Want To Be A Better Copywriter? Read This First.

Growing up, I never realized that writing wasn’t a breeze for everyone out there. It came naturally to me throughout my school years. In fact, I was the person that could write a 5-paper in 90-minutes flat and think that was totally normal (joke’s on me, because I became an English Teacher and quickly realized this is NOT the norm).

That being said, when I started working with both kids and adults to improve their writing across projects, both academic and for profit, it became really clear to me that there were a few key challenges that everybody was facing across the board.

And the #1 struggle for everyone?

Writer’s Block

(or “I have no idea how to start this”)

It’s really hard to create cash-generating content when you’re feeling completely stuck and uninspired. I’d argue it’s nearly impossible.

Instead of spiraling, let’s start brainstorming. We all know & recognize how important it is to write compelling copy that not only resonates with your ideal client, but makes them think, “Holy shit, that’s me,” every single time they’re reading something you’ve written.

The absolute best way to bust through writer’s block or an inspiration hiatus is to:

  1. Take a break

  2. Pick up a book and read

Now I need you to understand that I’m not here to oversimplify the problem. But this is a foolproof strategy that has worked every single time that I’ve used it for myself, or have recommended it to a client or one of my students.

The reason?

You need to get out of your head

Escaping from your stress for a little while (even just 10 minutes) can positively impact the creation process and create an environment that actually supports your goals instead of trying to force them to happen.

Expose yourself to a variety of writing styles. Read whatever is calling to you - whether it’s personal development, romance, fantasy or something completely different. Inspiration can come from the most unlikely places and truly? The sky’s the limit.

The more you read, the better you’ll write.

And honestly - the best writers have all had writer’s block or struggled to find inspiration for their writing. It’s normal.

The best writers also know when it’s time to take a break and place their attention elsewhere. The same is true for you in your business. The more you read, the better you’ll write. The better you’re writing, the stronger your chances to increase the ROI from your words.

And who doesn’t want more cash for their words?!
